“It did occur to me while listening to Susan James’ new album Driving Toward the Sun that I was hearing probably a near perfect rendering of what has been termed (a million times) that classic “California Sound…you really will want to hear it again and again.” – John Payne, Bluefat.com

“A master at exploring the emotional and sonic possibilities.” - Los Angeles Times

”The Eagles only wish they had material like this to use to connect with a current-day audience. This is THE rare album that will resonate with people who are looking for substance and depth.” – New York Music Daily.

“A lasting presence. One of the best country-rock albums to be released this year…A nod to the Byrds and Burritos, this is an amazing new record.” - New Folk Radio

“Gem of an album…production, performance, songwriting, A-plus. This is A-plus across the boards.” – No Depression

“Excellent songwriting and an eye for musical details.” American Songwriter

“That dreamlike quality is evident throughout, but never diffuses the music’s impact. Quite the opposite: her music is rich with imagery and as vivid as it is varied.” Music and Musicians

“….a series of heart-torn songs that are clever, defiant, amusing and poignant by turns…James, certainly isn’t one to mince words when addressing a lover’s betrayal, yet she’s too gifted a lyricist to settle for venting her anger with a mindless rant.” Washington Post

”Every song is a keeper. It’d be hard for anyone to dislike this album…it’s that good! Highly recommended, Top pick.”- BabySue
